Puffy Dishcloth and Hand Towel

When I joined the DRUS list the ladies kept talking about sending a puffy. It took me some time to figure out that they were talking about the bags we knitters send yarns and stuff in to each other. I thought it would be fun to design a cloth so I found this pattern that reminds me of a PUFFY.

Mateirals:

Size 5/US 8 or size 4.5/US size 7
2 balls of worsted weight Sugar and Cream crochet cotton
Guage NI

Stitch multiple: 4 sts plus 3

Abbreviations:
M5 as follows: k1, yf, k1, yf, k1 all in one stitch.
Dec 4 as follows: p2 tog, p3 tog, pass the first of the 2 last sts on the right-hand needle over the 2nd st and off needle.

Pattern stitch:
1st row (right side): P1, k1 p1, *M5 into next stitch, p1, k1, p1; rep. from * to end.
2nd row: K1, p1, k1 *D4, k1, p1, k1 rep. from * to end.
3rd row: P1, M5, p1, * k1, p1, M5, p1; rep. from * to end.
4th row: K1, D4, k1, * p1, k1, D4, k1; rep. from * to end
Repeat these 4 rows for pattern.

Puffy Dishcloth:

With needles of your choice cast on 49 sts and work 5 rows in garter stitch. Keeping 1st and last 3 stitches in garter stitch begin pattern rows above.

Continue as established until cloth is square. Work 5 rows in garter stitch bind off.

Pattern Note:

For a smaller cloth cast on 33 sts and follow pattern above.
