Knit a Country Weave

An easy-to-learn knitting stitch creates woven-look place mats and a matching table runner. With chunky cotton yarn and fairly large needles you can give your table a new country look in a jiffy. In fact, the technique is so simple you’ll probably want to make a second set in different colours.

Pattern Notes:

Finished Size: Place Mat: Approximately 12 x 18 in. excluding fringe.
Table Runner: 12 x 30 in. excluding fringe.

The table runner’s length may be altered. For every 12 ins. added to the suggested length, you will need approximately 1 extra ball of each colour of yarn.

Gauge: 17 sts and 30 rows to 4 ins. in pattern with 5 mm needles.

Work from ** to ** as given for place mat.
